- Knife makers in Oregon push for TSA to renew policy
Lester De Asis, CEO of Oregon City's Benchmade Knife Co., and other knife manufacturers have been talking to Transportation Security Administration officials and lawmakers about resuming plans to allow some small knives on board planes. "We lost a lot of sales," said Jake Nichol, chief executive of Portland's Leatherman Tool Group, noting the decision to ban knives after Sept. 11, 2001. "Millions of dollars were lost."
