Kan. health care recruiting focuses on high school students
The Area Health Education Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center sends staff to rural areas to recruit high school students into nursing and other health care fields. The goal is for students to return to their communities to practice after their schooling is complete. The center's Seth Nutt says one obstacle to getting more health care practitioners in rural areas is that students do not know what careers are available and in high demand. Kansas Health Institute
