Va. report finds need to prepare more students for careers in nursing
Virginia's workforce development system needs fixing because employers cannot find workers with the proper skills, according to a legislative report. Nursing is among high-demand areas that don't receive enough focus, the audit found. Forty-seven high-school courses focus on nursing, while there are almost 45,000 job openings for nurses statewide. In contrast, the state had an estimated 44 job openings in fashion design last year but 254 courses in the field. WVTF-FM (Roanoke, Va.) (12/9)
