Student loan "relief" targeted as audit criticizes government over defaults
A report from the U.S. Education Department's Office of Inspector General has concluded that the department does not have a coherent strategy for reducing the number of student loan defaults or a system to identify which students are at risk. Some U.S. colleges face decline in applications over sexual assault reports
Students applying for college increasingly are concerned about sexual assault reports, say nearly one-third of admissions officers surveyed by Kaplan Test Prep. Schools such as Dartmouth College and Amherst College -- which have both experienced high-profile assault allegations -- saw applications drop by 14% and 7% respectively in 2013.
