Survey: 25% of academics expect to work past retirement age
One-quarter of higher-education professionals say they plan to retire at age 69 or older, according to a survey by TIAA-CREF. The retirement fund company also found that 37% expect to keep working part-time after retirement. The survey also showed that college and university workers are more likely than other Americans to have saved for retirement using an individual retirement account. InsideHigherEd.com

Study: Community college programs offer promising career opportunities
Students who take community college courses in such areas as health care, technology and skilled labor can expect to enter the workforce with starting salaries of $50,000 or more, according to federal statistics. A new study of Washington state's 34 community and technical colleges found students taking programs over a year or longer to complete have better chances of earning higher wages than many with bachelor's degrees.
