Survey: 25% of academics expect to work past retirement age
One-quarter of higher-education professionals say they plan to retire at age 69 or older, according to a survey by TIAA-CREF. The retirement fund company also found that 37% expect to keep working part-time after retirement. Study: Community college programs offer promising career opportunities
Students who take community college courses in such areas as health care, technology and skilled labor can expect to enter the workforce with starting salaries of $50,000 or more, according to federal statistics. A new study of Washington state's 34 community and technical colleges found students taking programs over a year or longer to complete have better chances of earning higher wages than many with bachelor's degrees. Program aims to boost college enrollment, graduation of Chicago students
The number of Chicago high-school graduates enrolling and graduating from college has increased since 2006, a new report shows, and a new program aims to keep improving those numbers. Under the program, announced this week, the city school district is partnering with 15 Chicago-area universities to enroll students and implement programs to boost four-year graduation rates of students in the program to 60% by 2025.
