Nursing grads get jobs quickly, Johns Hopkins survey finds
A survey of nursing students who received bachelor's degrees from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in 2013 found that 78% had accepted job offers within three months of beginning their searches, and most had positions before they graduated. The 2013 national employment rate at graduation was 59% for nurses with a bachelor's degree, compared with 29.3% for grads in all professions. Nurse.com

Plenty of opportunity for NPs in field of cardiology
Nurse practitioners have expanding roles and opportunities in cardiology, and Mayo Clinic cardiac NP Marci Farquhar-Snow said their skills include being able to quickly assess patients and help physicians make clinical decisions. A shift to outpatient care and the need for more primary care practitioners is opening the door for NPs to be leaders in patient education, said NP Beth Oliver of Mount Sinai Health System in New York. Nursing schools face challenges to making DNP switch
Nursing schools have made strides in changing the preparation of advanced practice nurses from a master's degree to a doctorate, but some still face barriers, according to a Rand study from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. The study found that the need for employer education, a lack of faculty, budget issues and too few clinical training sites can be obstacles to making the switch to a doctor of nursing practice model.
