RNs take a closer look at nurse turnover data
The RN Work Project found a high turnover rate for first- and second-year nurses, but co-directors Carol Brewer and Christine Kovner, both registered nurses, say many of these clinicians are taking other hospital positions, which can be good for the facility. Most nurses start in a hospital position, and those working in other health care settings had higher turnover rates. Brewer and Kovner say supervisors are a factor in nurse turnover, and facilities that want to reduce turnover rates should look at more management training. NurseZone.com (10/5)
