Contraceptive method and sexually transmitted infections: Is there a correlation?
Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) use is not associated with risk of incident sexually transmitted infections among adolescent women. DMPA should not be avoided in adolescents because of concern for increased STI risk. Rather, prevention efforts should focus on education regarding a reduced number of sexual partners.
